My Personal Experience — I Did Both in 2024–25

I landed in Dubai at 2 AM on a Tuesday. By 8 AM the next morning, I was standing at the base of the Burj Khalifa looking up at something that simply should not exist — 828 metres of glass and steel in a desert. Dubai does that to you. It constantly makes you feel like you've stepped into a film set where everything is turned up to eleven.

The desert safari on Day 3 was the moment Dubai stopped being a city and became an experience. Watching the sunset from a dune while a camel walked past and someone served me Arabic coffee — that's the Dubai nobody posts on Instagram because it feels too personal to share. I spent ₹4,500 for the full evening. Worth every paisa.

Singapore six months later was a completely different kind of wonderful. Quieter, calmer, impossibly clean. On Day 2, I had the best meal of my entire life — a plate of Hainanese chicken rice at Tian Tian in Maxwell Food Centre for ₹350. A Michelin-starred dish at a hawker stall, served on a plastic tray. That is Singapore in one image.

The Gardens by the Bay Supertree light show at 9 PM is completely free and completely stunning. I sat on the grass with half of Singapore watching coloured light ripple through 18-storey steel trees. That evening cost me nothing and I still think about it.

Honest verdict? Dubai gave me spectacle. Singapore gave me soul. If you have to choose — choose based on what you're hungry for right now. Go to Dubai when you want to be amazed. Go to Singapore when you want to be content.

FAQ — What Indians Ask About Dubai vs Singapore 2026
Is Dubai cheaper than Singapore for Indians in 2026?
Yes — Dubai is cheaper overall for Indians in 2026. A 7-day Dubai trip costs approximately ₹61,500 vs ₹73,000 for Singapore. The biggest savings are: free Visa on Arrival in Dubai (saves ₹4,000), cheaper flights from Indian cities (saves ₹5,000–8,000 avg), and tax-free shopping in Dubai stretches your rupee further.
Do Indians need a visa for Dubai and Singapore in 2026?
Dubai: Indians get free Visa on Arrival — queue at the airport, takes 15 minutes, completely free. Singapore: Indians require an e-Visa applied in advance at ICA Singapore website, costs ₹3,500–5,000, takes 3–5 working days. Both require a passport valid for at least 6 months and confirmed return tickets.
Which is better for a family trip — Dubai or Singapore?
Both are excellent for families. Singapore edges ahead for young children — it's the world's safest city, extremely clean, has Universal Studios and Sentosa Island, and the compact MRT makes navigation easy with kids. Dubai is better for older children and teens who love spectacle, desert safari, and theme parks like IMG Worlds of Adventure.
Which is better for a honeymoon from India — Dubai or Singapore?
Dubai wins for pure luxury honeymoon — 5-star hotels like Atlantis or Burj Al Arab at competitive prices, desert sunset dinners, and the sheer visual drama of the city at night. Singapore is more romantic and intimate — Gardens by the Bay supertree shows, Sentosa sunsets, rooftop infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands. Dubai for extravagance, Singapore for elegance.
What is the best time to visit Dubai and Singapore in 2026?
Dubai: November to March 2026 is ideal — temperatures 20–30°C, perfect for outdoor activities. Avoid May–September (45°C+, extremely humid). Singapore: February to April 2026 is best — less rain, lower humidity. Singapore has no extreme seasons but July–September can be rainy. Both cities are year-round destinations with climate-controlled malls and attractions.
Can vegetarians eat well in Dubai and Singapore?
Singapore is far better for vegetarians — hawker centres always have vegetarian options, Little India has dozens of pure veg South Indian restaurants, and the multicultural food scene means alternatives are everywhere. Dubai has good vegetarian options in Indian areas like Karama and Deira, but many restaurants are meat-heavy. Singapore is the clear winner for Indian vegetarians.
How much spending money should I carry for Dubai vs Singapore?
Dubai: Carry AED 1,500–2,500 (≈₹35,000–57,000) for on-ground expenses for 7 days excluding pre-booked hotels. Cards accepted everywhere. Singapore: Carry SGD 500–800 (≈₹30,000–48,000) for ground expenses. Singapore is almost entirely cashless — your Indian debit/credit card works at 95% of places. Keep some cash for hawker stalls.
Is it safe to visit Dubai as an Indian tourist in 2026?
Yes — Dubai is one of the world's safest cities with extremely low crime. However, cultural laws are strict: no public displays of affection, alcohol only in licensed venues, dress modestly in public areas. For Indian women traveling solo, Dubai is safe but Singapore is slightly more comfortable due to its more liberal cultural environment.
